About the single Lil' Prometheus
This year I am taking different approach to music production. I am going for quantity over quality since I am a newb in music production I should not waste my time trying to make everything perfect. Since I have very limited experience in producing music on the computer. I’m just going to release as many singles this year as I can while learning from each project. Quantity over quality.
The lesson I learned from producing Lil’ Prometheus was to always save your EQ shapes so you can go back to them if need be. Trust your ears. I had the 808 bass and sub sounding ok then I went in and tried to make changes and then it started sounding terrible. I did not save the EQ shape and it was very difficult to get the low end back to the way I had it. If it sounds good it sounds good. Don’t make unnecessary changes to your tracks. Also if you are working on a mix and its sounds good save it and make a copy. Then you can make changes in that copy set so you don’t F up your set that sounds good.
I’ve got the fire in the belly to make as much music as I can this year so I named my first track of 2022 Lil’ Prometheus because he was the Greek god that gave fire to the humans. I made a sinister heavy hip-hop beat and just improvised around the H/W H/H (half whole & whole half) diminished scale and harmonic minor scale to find the melody. That is why it sounds a little middle eastern because of the use of the harmonic minor scale. It was a little difficult to stop working on this track but the month is almost over and I need to move on to the next production. I will try my best to produce one track a month for this year along with producing in different styles and genres. Peace on da outside.
